I’m running Windows Vista, and I work with an external screen or projector most of the time.
Sometimes I disconnect and hibernate the computer while images are displayed on Screen 2. When I get to my next location and power on my computer, the images stay on screen 2 even though I do not have a projector connected.
It took a while, but I figured out how to get those images to Screen 1 without connecting a projector.
1) Start the Windows Task Manager by clicking Ctrl-Shift-Esc.
2) Click on the Task that needs to be moved from Screen 2 to Screen 1.
3) In the menu bar select Windows->Maximize. That should do it. If it doesn’t try…
4) Windows->Bring to Front, then try Windows-> Maximize again
5) Or try Windows->Minimize then Windows-> Bring to Front, then Windows-> Maximize
